The Scientific Committee has accepted a wide range of interesting abstracts for presentations and posters. The mental health of Deaf people throughout the lifespan will be discussed, with research and experience from around the world. Topics include the emotional development of Deaf children, deafblindness, schizophrenia and dementia.  The theme of Pathways to Rights for Deaf people is emphasized. They have the right to positive mental health and to equal access to appropriate mental health services when they are needed. 

Celebrated citizen: Dr Margaret du Feu OBE

Dr Margaret du Feu is a consultant psychiatrist specialising in for Mental Health and Deafness.

Over the past year, she’s been working tirelessly with other experts in the field, to bring the sixth World Congress on Mental Health and Deafness, to bring to Belfast this year.

President of WCMHD2014, Brian Symington, will volunteer during Giro d´Italia, Belfast, 9-11 May 2014

The Giro d'Italia annual bicycle race is primarily held in Italy and it is considered to be the second only to the Tour of France in terms of prestige in the cycling world.

The Grand Partenza or ' Big Start ' of the Giro d'Italia will take place over three days from 9 - 11 May 2014 and involves routes in Belfast, around the stunning Causeway Coast and Armagh before finishing in Dublin.
